I'd long wanted to make a domestic bliss record—my Planet Waves, my Tupelo Honey, my Ram. But as the ideas for projects piled up, I forgot about that one. —then, lo & behold, without intending to, made one anyway.

Also: in 2022 we moved down the street from a clock tower. The working title for this album had been in place by then. Did the latter circumstance have anything to do with the heavy support I threw behind our moving to this particular apartment, in this particular neighborhood? Hmmm.

Recorded at home in Xiamen, in the summer and early fall of 2023. Finished shortly after dawn on 11 October.
